![]() ![]() Solitaire card games free or games of patience, as they used to be known, is the category of card games played with one or more card decks and which objective is to move all the cards from one determined display to one pile or piles. Here is a brief description of what solitaire means. The object of the game is to use all the cards in the deck to build the foundations up in suits from Ace, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack, Queen, King. The top card is face up, the rest face down. Twenty-eight cards are dealt from the deck into the 7 tableau piles with the number of cards per pile increasing from one to seven from left to right. Klondike solitaire classic uses one deck (52 cards). This is probably the most popular solitaire games in the world. A relevant result is a percentage of games won, an average time to solve a game, or the longest winning streak. This however is not relevant when players compare their results. ![]() The progress in the game is indicated by the number of cards left on the game board (the fewer the better). However, a card can be placed on another card only if the latter card has a number higher by one and a suit of the opposite color to the former.įreeCell Solitaire Online XL does not have a specific scoring scheme. Also, any card can be placed in an empty tableau. The game automatically calculates how many cards a player can move based on the number of available free cells, as moving cards one by one can be tedious. If a player wants to move more than one card to a new location, it is necessary to use free cells, which are in the top-left corner of the game board. If there are no available cards which can be placed in the foundations, the player must move the cards around on the game board so that more cards with low numbers are directly available.Īs a rule, the player can move only one card at a time - unlike in other solitaire games in which the player can lift an entire stack of cards and move it to a different location. That is, a card can be placed in the foundation only if there is a card already there with a number lower by one and the same suit. The sorted cards are being placed in the foundations in the top-right corner of the game board, beginning with aces. Since then, FreeCell remains famous for the fact that for any randomly shuffled card deal, the game is almost certainly solvable.Īs with most other patience and solitaire games, the player starts with a shuffled deck and must sort the cards from aces to kings for each suit separately. The project lasted almost a year and indicated that only one of the card deals was unsolvable. There was an attempt in 1994 to solve all of the 32,000 card deals. In that version there were 32,000 different card deals available. Although available in earlier version of system Windows, FreeCell gained much of its popularity when it was distributed with Windows 95. Alfille also created a first FreeCell Solitaire video game in 1978. The game was invented by Paul Alfille as a modification of an older game. The name of the game, FreeCell, comes from the four free cells in the top-left corner of the game board which can be used to temporarily store cards. Important shortcut keys Toggle full screen: ![]()

![]() ![]() I have owned two Nordic Ware half-sheets and one quarter-sheet for nearly a decade and haven’t needed to replace them yet. Brittany Bennett, owner of Taartwork, says they’ll “make you feel like a professional in your home kitchen,” and chef and television host Elena Besser says they’re the “closest brand to the industrial baking sheets” she used in the kitchen at the beloved Brooklyn restaurant Lilia. Nordic Ware makes the most durable sheet pans out there. Material: Aluminum | Coating: None | Size: Half-sheet | Rim: Rolled So how do you know the one you’re buying will hold up to all that cooking without staining, warping, or scratching? To help answer that question, we spoke to nearly a dozen cooks, bakers, and even one candy artist about the sheet pans they love - and I wax poetic about the ones that have lasted me through years of granola (and chicken and cookies). They’re made by a lot of different brands. The point is, they’re serious workhorses. Cookies are a given, but sheet pans make excellent vessels for large-format cakes as well as trays for catching pie- or tart-juice overflow. And at least once a week, you’ll find me turning to a single-sheet-pan dinner in an attempt to cut down on dishes, whether a whole roasted chicken nestled on top of a layer of potatoes, or a rectangular pizza loaded with cheese. For dinner, I prep any number of ingredients - roasted or charred vegetables, filets of fish, cuts of meat. For lunch, I often quickly transform a handful of nuts or a can of chickpeas from raw to golden brown, the perfect additions to salads. ![]() I’ve been known to make a big batch of granola to eat for breakfast throughout the week and to crisp up bacon on the weekend ( way less mess than frying in a skillet). ![]() I pull mine out nearly every day, often multiple times a day. They try to copy Apple's old walled garden aproach but they really lack that "vision thing" which they had in the early days.Īs weird as it sounds: I think its a terrible idea to create feature additions from a "most upvoted" list on centercode. The lacklustre launch of L11 really didn't grab me. They seem bereft of energy and inspiration. I think Ableton has run down a creative dead end. I'm sort of looking around for my way out though. And my Laptop is kept on the most stable version. My desktop is a Win7 machine and I spent a month trying to upgrade it to Win10 and failed for the whole month of December - so I've not even installed L11 on my desktop. I've got Live 11 but not used it due to various issues, I'm still on L10 which is mature and stable enough. You will long miss some of your favourite devices (and I needed to buy some alternatives) but in return you might find a workflow that more than compensates for that. It's been fare more stable than Ableton for me). In short I would say give I another try (assuming you can get It crash free. So after missing a lot of Ableton in the transition process, I learned to embrace the new paradigms and now produce faster than ever before. With the geeky nature of Bitwig with it's grid and modulators II wasn't expecting such a robust sampler. And was pleasantly surprised how good that workflow was. And I recently created many complex dynamic multi sampled instruments I would normally only create in logic (because it was far to tedious to do in Ableton). The V4 update shows their intention: To add and refine the more basic functions like comping but to still come up with innovative ideas like the operators and import third party projects. But the simple fact that in Bitwig I can work with a big template in which I can completely disable and hide tracks and groups at will is huge for me. There are still things missing in Bitwig like narrow track width, flexible track height and some of Ableton's excellent factory devices, better automation drawing and unique M4L devices, and Ableton is refined in many areas that shows the difference between a V11 vs V4. I used to miss freezing, or Ableton's drum rack flexibility but once you really get to know Bitwig if often realise their solutions are just that little smarter and easier to use eventually. But it's mostly these workflow features that make all the difference. I don't care for the Grid or actually many of the new 4.0 features besides comping. The conflict soon blossomed into an all-out war, but Western nations and much of the Arab world, fearful of the spread of Islamic radicalism and what it would mean to the region and the world, laid their support firmly behind Saddam, despite the fact that his invasion of Iran clearly violated international law. In response, on September 22, 1980, Saddam ordered Iraqi forces to invade the oil-rich region of Khuzestan in Iran. ![]() Saddam, whose political power rested in part upon the support of Iraq's minority Sunni population, worried that developments in Shi-ite majority Iran could lead to a similar uprising in Iraq. The same year that Saddam ascended to the presidency, Ayatollah Khomeini led a successful Islamic revolution in Iraq's neighbor to the northeast, Iran. By early August 1979, hundreds of Saddam's political foes had been executed. Of those 68, all were tried and found guilty of treason and 22 were sentenced to death. During the meeting, a list of 68 names was read out loud, and each person on the list was promptly arrested and removed from the room. Less than a week later, he called an assembly of the Ba'ath Party. In 1979, when al-Bakr attempted to unite Iraq and Syria, in a move that would have left Saddam effectively powerless, Saddam forced al-Bakr to resign, and on July 16, 1979, Saddam became president of Iraq. During that same time, however, Saddam helped develop Iraq's first chemical weapons program and, to guard against coups, created a powerful security apparatus, which included both Ba'athist paramilitary groups and the People's Army, and which frequently used torture, rape and assassination to achieve its goals. He also nationalized Iraq's oil industry, just before the energy crisis of 1973, which resulted in massive revenues for the nation. He did much to modernize Iraq's infrastructure, industry and health-care system, and raised social services, education and farming subsidies to levels unparalleled in other Arab countries in the region. During al-Bakr’s presidency, Saddam proved himself to be an effective and progressive politician, albeit a decidedly ruthless one. In 1968, Saddam participated in a bloodless but successful Ba'athist coup that resulted in Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr becoming Iraq's president and Saddam his deputy. Shortly thereafter he managed to escape prison, and in the years that followed, continued to strengthen his political power. While in prison, however, he remained involved in politics, and in 1966, was appointed deputy secretary of the Regional Command. In 1963, when Qasim's government was overthrown in the so-called Ramadan Revolution, Saddam returned to Iraq, but he was arrested the following year as the result of in-fighting in the Ba'ath Party. Several of the would-be assassins were caught, tried and executed, but Saddam and several others managed to escape to Syria, where Saddam stayed briefly before fleeing to Egypt, where he attended law school. Welding is normally carried out in the flat (BS EN ISO 6947 PA) position because of the high fluidity of the weld pool and molten slag and the need to maintain a flux layer. Submerged arc welding is ideally suited to the longitudinal and circumferential butt welds required for the manufacture of line pipe and pressure vessels. Replacing the wire with a 0.5mm thick strip, typically 60mm wide, enables the process to be used for surfacing components. These variants are used in specific situations to improve productivity through increasing deposition rates and/or travel speed. This can increase deposition rates by up to 20%. Additional productivity may be gained by feeding a small diameter non-conducting wire into leading edge of the weld pool. Since the operator cannot observe the weld pool, great reliance must be placed on parameter setting and positioning of the filler wire.Īlthough SAW is normally operated with a single wire using either AC or DC current, there are a number of variants including the use of two or more wires, adding chopped wire to the joint prior to welding, and the use of metal powder additions. Welding current (typically between 3 amperes), arc voltage and travel speed all affect bead shape, depth of penetration and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal. SAW is usually operated as a mechanised process. The chemical nature and size distribution of the flux assists arc stability and determines the mechanical properties of the weld metal and the shape of the bead. The flux may be made by either fusing constituents to form a glassy slag (which is then crushed to form a powder) or by agglomerating the constituents using a binder and a corning process.
